Filipino sprinter Kristina Knott followed up her strong performance in the heats with another record-breaking performance for the gold medal in the 200-meter dash of the 30th Southeast Asian Games Saturday.

The 24-year-old Knott, who in the morning set a SEA Games record with a 23.07 clocking, slashed .06 seconds off her time in the final for a new Games’ best of 23.01.

Vietnam’s Le Tu Chinh settled for silver with a time of 23.45 while Veronica Pereira of Singapore claimed bronze with 23.77.

Knott now also holds the national record in the 200m dash, which Filipino sprint legend Lydia De Vega (23.35) once held for many years.

Her teammate Zion Corrales Nelson wiped De Vega’s record earlier this year in a US NCAA meet.

Knott will also stake her claim in the 100m dash athletics event.
