SEA Games: Another gold for PH kickboxing team as Saclag delivers

MANILA, Philippines–The Philippines added three more dabs of luster to its kickboxing campaign in the Southeast Asian Games.

Jean Claude Saclag and Gina Iniong each delivered gold medals, while Karol Maguide a bronze in their respective matches Tuesday night at Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay

Saclag carved out a 3-0 decision over Malaysian foe Mahmoud Mohammed in the -63.5kg low kick, while Iniong bested Apichaya Mingkhwan, also 3-0, in the -55kg kick light to add to Jerry Olsim’s golden finish the night before.

Maguide, for his part, put on a spirited stand against Laos’ Phan Cheuangvanheuang, 2-1.

The other medalists were Jomar Balangui and Renalyn Dacquel, who saw action Monday.

The Filipinos, who were mentored by Team Lakay’s kingmaker Mark Sangiao, accounted for a total of three golds, two silvers, and a bronze.
