MANILA, Philippines—Marck Espejo debuted in the Thailand Volleyball League in style, leading Visakha over Prince Finance, 25-22, 25-21, 18-25, 25-22, Sunday.
The Filipino star impressed in his first game, unleashing 25 points and was named Player of the Game for last year’s bronze medalists.
Espejo showed his monstrosity on the court with a devastating facial of a spike in the fourth set that clocked in at 101 kilometers per hour and giving Visakha a 13-8 lead.
He then, pulled off another trick up his sleeve with a booming kill for Visakha’s 24-20 match point.
“Maybe we’re waiting for the game to end and then, we all relaxed,” said Espejo, who added that he and his teammates still have a lot of room for improvement.
Espejo teamed up with Brazilian import Kaio Fabio Rocha and Thai international Kitsada Somkane throughout the four-setter.
Visakha is Espejo’s second team outside of the Philippines after he played for Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler in the 2018-19 Japanese V.Premiere League.
Before heading overseas, Espejo played for Cignal leading the HD Spikers to the 2019 Open and Reinforced Conference titles in the Spikers’ Turf.
