MANILA, Philippines–In case one is wondering how Kai Sotto is progressing with his US training, well, he’s doing pretty good.

In fact, the Filipino teen sensation has just been named MVP after leading The Skill Factory National to a championship in the King Invitational tournament at Brandon Hall Academy in Atlanta, Georgia.

The 7-foot-2 Sotto towered over the competition, which featured other high school prospects in the US, with tournament averages of 27 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 4.3 blocks through three games.

Sotto was efficient in the title-clincher, collecting 27 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and six blocks in just 25 minutes as his team beat Believe Prep, 112-102, to end its campaign undefeated at 3-0.

The 17-year-old Sotto left the Philippines early last year to hone his game in the US as he tries to become the first homegrown Filipino to make the NBA.
