NONTHABURI, Thailand – Jason Brickman delivered a performance to remember against his former team as San Miguel Alab Pilipinas hacked out a 100-92 overtime win over Mono Vampire Thursday night in the Asean Basketball League Season 10 at Stadium 29 here.
The Filipino-American guard, who helped the Thai club reach the finals two seasons ago, pumped in a career-high 32 points as he joined forces with Nick King at crunchtime to lead Alab to its seventh win in 11 outings.
Brickman also had eight rebounds and eight assists for Alab, which fought back from a 16-point deficit in the second half and could have won the game in regulation if not for Mike Singletary’s triple with 3.8 seconds left that sent the match into overtime at 85-all.
Alab seized control in the extra period with Brickman firing eight points including a dagger of a triple with 1:37 remaining that gave the visiting team a 97-88 advantage.
It was sweet revenge for Alab which suffered an 89-102 beating at hands of Mono at Caloocan Sports Complex just four days ago. Both teams split their season series with two wins apiece. But Alab became the first team to beat Mono on its home floor this season.
Held to just six points in the loss last Sunday, King responded with 26 points and nine rebounds, compensating for a poor offensive showing from Prince Williams who only had three points on 1-of-8 shooting. Sam Deguara added 18 points and 16 boards for Alab.
