PBA D-League: Vidal, Acosta sizzle as Erase Plantcenta drubs Cagayan

MANILA, Philippines—Erase Plantcenta lit up from downtown and bounced back with a 90-68 drubbing of Cagayan in the 2012 PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the San Juan Arena.

Macky Acosta and Jet Vidal combined for 51 of the Erasers’ total points and 11 three pointers, which buoyed them all game long.

Acosta, a standout from Mapua, registered 26 points and gunned down six triples, which went along with four rebounds.

Acosta ignited an early run and gave the newcomer Erase Plantcenta an early lead, which ballooned to as high as 21 points late in the fourth period.

Vidal, the streak shooter from Perpetual Help, helped pad on to the lead with four three points to finish with 25 points.

Vidal went on 8-for-18 from the field, and also grabbed five rebounds and had four steals for the Erasers, which recovered from an opening-day loss to Cafe France.

“It’s really my system. If you’re open, shoot the ball. I give them the license to shoot as long as they play defense,” said coach Efren Garcia.

The Rising Suns, who represent the province of Cagayan Valley, outrebounded Erase Plantcenta, 63-44, but only made two three-pointers in their opening game.

Junar Arce finished with 16 points along with a whopping 19 rebounds for Cagayan while former UE Red Warrior Lucas Tagarda added 15 points and 10 rebounds.
