MANILA, Philippines—The NCAA has also decided to suspend the Season 95 second-semester sports events in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The management committee members all signed the memorandum postponing all games for the senior division starting Feb. 14., a day after the UAAP also announced the suspension of its events.

“While we are mindful of the importance of holding the games, the health of the students is our top priority,” the ManCom wrote.

The NCAA Mancom said the decision to suspend the games was in compliance with the Department of Health’s suggestion to avoid “attending, participating in, and organizing events that draw a huge number of attendees.”

The postponement affects the ongoing volleyball tournaments with both the men’s and women’s divisions both nearing the end of the first round.

As of Feb. 12, there have been 45,171 confirmed cases with 1,115 deaths according to the World Health Organization with one of those deaths getting tallied in the Philippines.
