MANILA, Philippines—F2 Logistics Mary Joy Baron was named the PSL  ambassador at the start of the new season on Saturday.

The comely middle blocker is the seventh player to hold the distinction following Rachel Anne Daquis, who is among the most recognizable names in the sport.

Baron admitted that it was flattering to follow in the footsteps of the once national team skipper.

“She told me that she was already looking at me as her replacement when we were still playing last season,” said Baron in Filipino after the league’s opening ceremonies Saturday at Filoil Flying V Center.

“Of course it’s a big thing coming from Daquis because she can see the hard work I put in.”

Baron was an integral part of the Cargo Movers’ success in the league helping the team in all five of its title runs.

The Cargo Movers’ best season to date was in 2019 when they nearly completed the Grand Slam winning the Invitational and All-Filipino conferences.

F2’s lone silver medal finish in 2019 was in the Grand Prix and Baron vowed to claim that title this year.

“My goal is the Grand Slam because it’d be the team’s first,” said Baron, who was named MVP of the Invitational Conference. “And I always set a goal for myself that I would always see improvement, I want to always have something new in my game.”

“I still have so much to do in my volleyball career.”
