Diaz to aid COVID-19 relief effort through weightlifting seminar
MANILA, Philippines — Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz is giving the country a lift in its fight against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
The Filipino weightlifting queen has set up a donation drive through an online weightlifting seminar on Sunday at 9 a.m that aims to not only educate those interested in the sport but more importantly, to provide the Philippines’ coronavirus relief efforts a needed boost.
“I will be conducting an online weightlifting seminar via zoom. I’m doing this to do my part as a Filipino and to share my passion, experiences, and knowledge in weightlifting,” Diaz posted on her Instagram.
Article continues after this advertisement“In order to join, you need to donate, all of the proceeds will go towards pandemic relief in the Philippines,” Diaz said.
As of Tuesday afternoon, there have been 3,764 confirmed cases of the deadly virus in the Philippines, as per the Department of Health (DOH).
With sports on shutdown due to the virus, many athletes like Diaz continue to reach out and extend help to those in need.
