MANILA, Philippines—Hidilyn Diaz lifted up the spirits of her fellow Zamboangeños as well as Bulacan residents at the most opportune time as the coronavirus disease continues to spread in the country.
Diaz, the weightlifting silver medalist in the 2016 Rio Olympics, was able to pack up 60 food parcels that she and her group will distribute to 30 families in Bustos, Bulacan and 30 more in Mampang, Zamboanga City.
Her fellow weightlifters Roanne Beltran and Rowel Garcia will spearhead the deliveries in Bustos River in Bulacan and Pioquinto Drive in Zamboanga City, respectively.
As of Sunday, Diaz has raised a total of P55,438.15 through her online weightlifting seminar at bit.ly/HDWeightliftingSeminar-Registration.

“Thank you for your time and hope you learn a lot from us,” Diaz posted on her Instagram account Sunday. “Happy Easter.”
Each of Diaz’s food packs, which cost a total of P362, consist of two kilograms of rice, 12 pieces of eggs, assorted vegetables, and mung bean.
