GUIYANG, China—Lone Filipino female fighter Analisa Cruz overcame a sluggish start to score an 11-6 victory over Myanmar’s Naing Hnin Mo Mo in the China Open boxing tournament.
Cruz, the 27-year-old find from Occidental Mindoro, trailed 0-1 in the first round but picked up the pace in the second to pull even at 3-3.
She next faces China’s Ren Cancan, the world champion best remembered for beating the now-retired Annie Albania to the gold medal in last year’s Guangzhou Asian Games.
