MANILA, Philippines — Brent Paraiso became the second player to leave the University of Santo Tomas’ men’s basketball team in just a span of eight days.

Paraiso’s departure came not long after former UST captain CJ Cansino transferred to University of the Philippines after getting cut by the Growling Tigers. Both Paraiso and Cansino share the same agency.

The Varsitarian, the official student publication of UST, announced the news Saturday.

Cansino and Paraiso’s exit came amid a controversy surrounding the team after it reportedly held a “bubble” training camp in Capuy, Sorsogon province, where the Tigers allegedly breached quarantine protocols.

The gym where the Growling Tigers were confined was reportedly owned by the team’s head coach Aldin Ayo.

The incident has been under investigation by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, the UAAP and UST itself.

Paraiso played just one season for UST.

Before suiting up for the Tigers in Season 82, Paraiso was with La Salle where he got involved in another controversy that eventually led to his move from Taft to España in 2018.

Paraiso helped UST make the UAAP Finals last year where it got swept by defending champion Ateneo.
