MANILA, Philippines—A silver lining has emerged from the doldrums that is the University of Santo Tomas.
Former point guard Jeric Fortuna has submitted a letter of intent to the Institute of Physical Education and Athletics to join the Growling Tigers as an assistant coach following the mess the team featured in the past month.
As per The Varsitarian, former Tiger Kim Lo also submitted a letter of intent which is a prerequisite for any employment into the university.
The Growling Tigers are currently without a head coach after Aldin Ayo resigned from the post with investigations on the Sorsogon Bubble still going.
Several players have also left the team including former captain CJ Cansino, Rhenz Abando, and Brent Paraiso who were all instrumental in helping the Tigers get to the UAAP Season 82 finals.
Lo and Fortuna were teammates at UST from 2010 to 2012. Fortuna captained the Growling Tigers to the Season 75 finals in a losing effort to eventual five-peat champion Ateneo.
Fortuna played several seasons in the PBA and was a two-time champion with San Miguel serving as the team’s backup point guard behind Alex Cabagnot and Chris Ross.
