MANILA, Philippines — Ignite, a team made up of elite high school prospects including Fil-American guard Jalen Green and Filipino center Kai Sotto, could make its anticipated NBA G League debut later this year.

The G League is keen on staging a bubble tournament in November or December, Shams Charania of The Athletic revealed in a tweet citing sources.

“The NBA G League is seriously discussing tournament featuring the elite Ignite team — led by Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga — and other teams (undrafted players, etc.) in a bubble environment in November/December. Decisions are still fluid,” Carania wrote Tuesday.

The team, which also features promising players in Jonathan Kuminga, Isaiah Todd, Daishen Nix and Princepal Singh, has been practicing in its home market of Walnut Creek in California.

Ignite, the G League’s first professional pathway team, is coached by former NBA veteran Brian Shaw, a three-time NBA champion as a player and twice as an assistant both as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 18-year-old Sotto, who stands at 7-foot-2, is aiming to become the first full-blooded Filipino to make the NBA.
