Cebu Prisaa nat’l games up
THE Prisaa (Private Schools Athletic Association) National Collegiate Games opened yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Complex.
According to Prisaa national chair Emmanuel Y. Angeles, among those in attendance were Cebu Governor Gwendolyn F. Garcia, Cebu City Mayor Michael M. Rama, Prisaa national president Rev. Fr. Vicente Uy, SVD, and Prisaa secretary general Laureano Santos.
Hosted by Prisaa Region 7, the games have attracted 5,000 athletes, officials and coaches from the 17 regions which will be participating in 18 events until April 28.
Article continues after this advertisementAlso to be featured are the search for the Mutya ng Prisaa 2012 and the Vocal Solo and Duet Competitions slated April 24 at the USC South Cultural Center, Cebu City.
Prisaa is the country’s largest national sports association with more than 400 member colleges and universities. Since its revival in 1990 by Angeles, with very minimal support from the government, it has been successfully staging city, provincial, regional and national competitions yearly.
Among the Prisaa products are sprint queens Lydia de Vega and Elma Muros and national players Jerry Codinera and Marlou Aquino.
