MANILA, Philippines — With the pandemic still at large, MP Promotions president Sean Gibbons had nothing much to offer as far as Manny Pacquiao’s next fight is concerned.
Despite drawing much interest from other top welterweights, Pacquiao has yet to make a return in the ring since beating Keith Thurman for the WBA (super) title in July of last year.
“You know what, I wish I had something,” Gibbons said during the PSA Forum on Tuesday.
“The latest is, he’s out helping the people of the Philippines, doing a great job during this pandemic.”
The eight-division champion, who turns 42 on Dec. 17, has been linked to fighting the likes of WBO titleholder Terence Crawford and former UFC champion Conor McGregor next year.
Errol Spence Jr., the IBF and WBC champion, and Mikey Garcia have also expressed their interest in a showdown with the Filipino ring legend.
“Hopefully, next year, we get something going for him (Pacquiao),” said Gibbons.
