PH’s Venerable wins gold in online poomsae meet
MANILA, Philippines — Filipino Darius Venerable claimed the gold medal in the 2020 Online World Taekwondo-Asia Championships Poomsae Open.
Venerable captured the top prize after registering 7.02 points top rule the men’s freestyle category, as per The Varsitarian, the official student publication of University of Santo Tomas.
Venerable is a rising star for UST’s poomsae team in the UAAP, having won the silver medal in the men’s team category in Season 82 as a rookie.
He is also a silver medalist in the 30th Southeast Asian Games last year.
Venerable beat other participants from Indonesia and Korea to win the gold.
Kim Ji-won of Korea bagged the silver with 6.80 points while Wawan Saputra of Indonesia settled for the bronze with 6.78 points.
