Drex Zamboanga eyes ONE title, moves to bantamweight
MANILA, Philippines — Filipino flyweight Drex Zamboanga hopes his triumphant ONE Championship debut is just the beginning of bigger things to come.
Zamboanga has lofty goals with becoming a world champion just among his many dreams as he aims to make a name for himself inside the ONE Circle.
Article continues after this advertisement“My goal is to become a world champion. I won’t be satisfied until I have reached that goal. I will do everything in my power to overcome any challenge that is put in front of me,” he said.
The 31-year-old Zamboanga is on the right track after scoring a second-round submission over Detchadin Srosirisuphathin of Thailand four months ago in ONE: A New Breed.
Zamboanga, older brother of top atomweight contender Denice, has been holed up in Thailand, unable to return back home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aside from winning the world title, Zamboanga also plans to move up in weight.
“Another goal of mine is moving up to a higher weight class,” said Zamboanga.
“I think any fighter in the bantamweight division is good. They are all great fighters. I’ve been training hard here in Thailand, and I can’t wait to get back in there and put on a good show for all the fans.”
