MANILA, Philippines — Efren “Bata” Reyes was an undeniable artist when it comes to billiards, so it’s no surprise that “The Magician” was also an artistic inspiration for a 19-year-old Industrial Technology major from Pampanga.

The billiards legend became the model for John Marko David Dadulo’s charcoal portrait that paved the way for the young artist to finally meet his childhood hero.

“Ever since I was a kid, sir Efren has been my idol,” wrote Dadulo on his Facebook account. “My grandparents had a pool hall at the back of our house and I always hear sir Efren’s name while also watching him on TV. From then on I admired him.”
