MANILA, Philippines — Having Stanley Pringle on the court was almost like import Justin Brownlee never left.
At least that’s how Barangay Ginebra’s chief playmaker LA Tenorio described the impact of Pringle on the floor for the Gin Kings.
“He’s our Justin Brownlee in the all-Filipino. He’s our import,” said Tenorio on One Sports’ The Game.
“He (Pringle) plays like an import. And he works like an import also.”
True enough, Pringle played on a level only few could reach in last season’s Philippine Cup.
The 33-year-old guard averaged 18.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists to lead Ginebra to its first all-Filipino championship in 13 years.
He also bagged his first Best Player of the Conference award.
“June Mar is June Mar, but every year [Stanley] is a contender. I think he’s always in the top 3 in the BPC [race],” Tenorio, who was named Philippine Cup Finals MVP.
