MANILA, Philippines—EJ Obiena continued his personal tear as he once against a new Philippine record in pole vault.

The Philippines’ Olympic bet cleared a personal and national-best 5.86 meters while settling for the silver medal in the Orlen Indoor Cup at Atlas Arena in Poland.

“I’ve moved forward. A silver, a new personal best and a new Philippine record. Back home, we call it 3-in-1. Thank you!” said Obiena in a Facebook post.

Obiena’s attempt erased his previous mark of 5.80 meters that he set in the ISTAF Indoor Athletics Meet in Berlin, Germany a fortnight ago.

The United States’ Sam Kendricks earned the gold medal in the Poland meet as he cleared 5.86 meters in just one jump while Obiena needed three attempts to make the height.

Thiago Braz, the reigning Olympic gold medalist, came in at third with a 5.80-meter jump.
