MANILA, Philippines—PLDT Home Fibr has officially joined the Premier Volleyball League ahead of the organization’s first professional season this April.

Head coach Roger Gorayeb, who has won eight championships with the organization, said he is relishing the team’s return to the PVL, a league he’s been part of for more than a decade.

“I’ve been with the V-League for 14 years, from its start I was already there with sir Ricky that’s why I’m very happy that I’m back,” said Gorayeb in Filipino. “I hope that I can continue the great legacy that PLDT has in the PVL.”

PLDT and SMART Head of Sports Jude Turcuato said the Power Hitters’ PVL comecoming is like a new beginning for the club.

“It definitely feels like a revival for our team since it feels good to be back home,” said Turcuato. “With our campaign in PLDT which is ‘the strongest connections are at home’, it was about time that we go back to our roots which is the PVL. It’s just refreshing to have a new beginning.”

The Power Hitters last played in the league in 2015 when the club won both the Open and Reinforced Conference titles under Gorayeb.

Not done with his club conquest, Gorayeb also steered National University to the Collegiate Conference championship making him the league’s only Grand Slam champion.

PLDT and sister team Cignal’s inclusion into the new PVL season was already announced back in February by  Ricky Palou, Sports Vision Management Group president.
