MANILA, Philippines—It wasn’t a long ride, but Christian Standhardinger’s time with NorthPort was a memorable one.

Standhardinger’s short tenure with the Batang Pier came to an end when he was traded to Barangay Ginebra for Greg Slaughter.

“I want to thank NorthPort Batang Pier for everything—for taking a chance on me and for the great memories that we had together,” wrote Standhardinger on his Instagram post Friday.

“I will never forget our 5-game winning streak, 4 of which are do or die games! Also, when we upset the number one ranked team and reach the semifinals in our first conference together.”

Standhardinger was instrumental in the Batang Pier’s inspiring run in the 2019 Governors’ Cup where the club barely made the playoffs as the eighth seed with a 5-6 record before scoring an upset over no.1 NLEX in the quarterfinals.

Getting acquired via trade from San Miguel early in that conference, Standhardinger produced superstar numbers of 22.7 points and 12.8 rebounds a game—massive upticks from his Beermen numbers of 3.5 points and 4.0 rebounds.

“It was an honor to fight alongside my teammates/ friends who are not only amazing players but also great people,” wrote Standhardinger.

“Moreover, I would like to extended my gratitude to Coach Pido! Thank you coach, for allowing me to go all out for the team and giving me the trust that comes with it.”
