MANILA, Philippines — TNT team owner Manny V. Pangilinan isn’t buying Ray Parks’ reason for taking a sabbatical from the team.

Parks on Saturday announced on social media that he will miss this year’s PBA season but did not go into specifics as to why aside from “personal reasons” involving his family.

The versatile guard’s surprise announcement triggered much speculation and Pangilinan provided more questions than answers as to what the real score is.

Pangilinan, the business tycoon and sports patron who also owns two other PBA clubs in Meralco and NLEX, posted a photo of Parks on Facebook, claiming that the picture was taken on Feb. 25 in San Juan, La Union.

“I don’t see any mother being cared for, and as far as I know, La Union is nowhere near California,” Pangilinan, who is also chairman emeritus of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, wrote.

The 28-year-old Parks is coming off a stellar campaign for TNT in the Philippine Cup bubble.

His presence will be sorely missed by the Tropang Giga, who lost to the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings in last season’s finals.
