Thompson signs extension with Ginebra
MANILA, Philippines — Scottie Thompson is set to remain with Barangay Ginebra for the foreseeable future after signing an extension with the club Friday.
Danny Espiritu, Thompson’s agent, said on Friday that Thompson did sign the contract extension at San Miguel athletic director Alfrancis Chua’s office.

“Huge thank you to Boss Al! #NSD,” posted Thompson in Filipino.
Thompson’s initial contract was set to expire in August making him an unrestricted free agent, a valuable asset for any team in the PBA.
Article continues after this advertisementThat free agency, however, won’t be happening as Thompson is locked in for three years with the Gin Kings.
The fifth overall pick of the 2015 Draft has been instrumental in Ginebra’s success in the past decade helping the club to five titles and was named the Finals MVP of the 2018 Commissioner’s Cup.
His latest exploit was helping the Gin Kings to the 2020 Philippine Cup wherein he posted 11 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.1 steals a game.
