De Los Santos plucks another gold with close win
MANILA, Philippines—James De Los Santos has made it a dozen.
The world’s no.1 eKATA karateka scored a narrow victory over world no.2 Matias Moreno Domont of Switzerland, 25-24.5, in the finals of the Kamikaze Karate E-Tournament.
De Los Santos’ victory netted him his 12th gold medal of the year and the 48th of his eKATA career that he started in mid-2020.
Fatima A-Isha Lim Hamsain, De Los Santos’ student at Maharlika Karatedo Kai of the Philippines International, also won her fair share of gold in the tournament’s under-18 and under-16 divisions.
Hamsain beat Elisa Dominijanni in both finals, 24.8-23.6 in the U16 and 24.7-23.8 in the U18.
“I’m proud to also say that my MKKPI student, Fatima A-Isha Lim Hamsain, shone again this time by winning double gold in the U16 and U18 women’s eKATA category. Congrats and keep it up!” posted De Los Santos on social media.
