MANILA, Philippines — Don’t expect Stephen Loman to remain on the sidelines for long.
Loman was forced to withdraw from his April 28 bantamweight clash with former UFC veteran John Lineker in what would’ve been his ONE Championship debut after testing positive for COVID-19.
Despite the setback, the Team Lakay star vowed to keep working as he waits for another chance to showcase his skills in ONE.
“This April was supposedly my debut fight in the One Championship ring. For the past few months, we have been preparing physically, mentally and spiritually for us to be able to stay on top and win the fight,” Loman posted on social media recently.
“Eagerness, excitement, and hope to make each and everyone of you proud helped us to keep going. Unfortunately, these goals and feelings have to be adjourned,” he added. “Circumstances that are out of our control are inevitable.”
Loman’s teammate, Lito Adiwang also had to be pulled out of his April 14 showdown with top strawweight Jarred Brooks due to a positive COVID-19 result.
“Warriors never pause that long. The Sniper (Loman) and The Thunderkid (Adiwang) will turn the corner and it should be soon,” Team Lakay headmaster Mark Sangiao wrote on his Instagram.
“Despite this situation, I will still continue to work hard and nurture my well-being in order to take my future fights on the next level,” Loman said. To all of you who constantly supports me, Lito Adiwang, and all my teammates we hope for your understanding. Still, we are grateful to have you as our pillars.”
