MANILA, Philippines — Dwight Ramos is expected to join Gilas Pilipinas’ training camp at Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna soon.

Ramos, who recently arrived from the United States, is just undergoing health and safety protocols before being cleared to enter the Gilas bubble.

“I’m just getting this quarantine. Just waiting for a week, get my swab, and hopefully go straight there to Inspire,” said Ramos, who suited up for NCAA Division 1 school Cal State Fullerton for two years, in an episode of Hoops Life on Tuesday.

Gilas has been training in the bubble since April 26 in preparation for the 2021 Fiba Asia Cup qualifiers in Clark from June 16-20 and the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade, Serbia from June 29 to July 4.

The 6-foot-4 swingman’s arrival will be a big boost for the national team.

He emerged as one of the biggest revelations for Gilas after his impressive showing in the second window of the qualifiers in Bahrain where the Nationals swept their two games against Thailand.

Ramos averaged 12.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals in the first two windows.

The 22-year-old also hopes to provide leadership for his younger teammates at Gilas.
