MANILA, Philippines — Former PBA star Mac Cardona is making a comeback after joining the Zamboanga Valientes, who are set to see action in the upcoming Mindanao leg of the VisMin Super Cup.
The Valientes recently updated their profile picture on Facebook featuring Cardona clad in a Zamboanga jersey.
Cardona last played in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), helping the San Juan Knights win the 2019 Datu Cup title.
The 39-year-old swingman recently went to Zamboanga and was seen joining Tokyo Olympian Eumir Marcial and IBF super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas in training.
After playing 12 seasons in the PBA, where he was a one-time Best Player of the Conference, won a championship with Talk ’N Text and was named Finals MVP, Cardona campaigned in the MPBL.
He’s also had his fair share of troubles outside the court.
Last March, Cardona was arrested due to serious physical injuries stemming from a parking lot brawl at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig in February 2020.
In 2018, he also landed in jail after stabbing his former live-in partner while reportedly “high on drugs.”
