Celtics forward Jaylen Brown recovering after wrist surgery

Boston Celtics All-Star guard Jaylen Brown is recovering from surgery on his left wrist and is expected to resume basketball activities in three months, the team announced Thursday.

Brown, 24, underwent successful scapholunate ligament reconstruction surgery on Wednesday.

Brown averaged a career-high 24.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and a career-high 3.4 assists per game in 58 starts during his fifth season with Boston in 2020-21.

He has averaged 15.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in 337 games (230 starts) since the team selected him No. 3 overall in the 2016 draft out of Cal.

He last played on May 2, when he and fellow All-Star Jayson Tatum left the game after colliding in the final minute of a 129-119 loss to the visiting Portland Trail Blazers.

The Celtics (35-35) have lost four out of five games since then. Boston has clinched a play-in berth for the playoffs and sits in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with two games remaining.
