MANILA, Philippines—Thirdy Ravena made good on his promise of supporting Eumir Marcial as he sent the Philippine national team boxer new equipment and supplements for his preparations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Taking to social media, Marcial shared that he received a pair of Nike runners, whey protein, and multivitamins from the San-En NeoPhoenix guard.
“Received this package today from idol, @3rd_e Ravena! I want to thank Thirdy for taking the time to provide me this new pair of shoes and some supplements which will be very helpful for my training for the Olympics,” wrote Marcial Friday.
“Support even as simple as these can be very significant and is capable of boosting our morale as athletes. This stands as a proof that support need necessarily not to be in the form of money and that sometimes, as simple as a message of support could already go a long way. Mabuhay ka (I wish you good fortunes) idol. God bless you.”
Marcial shared that Ravena messaged him earlier this month that the former Ateneo star would like to help him in any way as he prepares for Tokyo and the Asian Championships in Dubai.
A few days later, that support has reached Marcial.
“Good luck boss!” replied Ravena on Instagram.
Marcial, who already holds a 1-0 professional record, is one of four Filipino boxers that qualified for the Summer Games along with Nesthy Petecio, Irish Magno, and Carlo Paalam.
Before going to Tokyo, Marcial will compete in the ASBC Asian Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships in Dubai along with former world champion Josie Gabuco, Maricel Dela Torre, Mark Lester Durens, Marvin Tabamo, Junmilardo Ogayre, Jere Samuel Dela Cruz, and John Paul Panuayan.
