Marck Espejo returns to Japan V.League, signs with FC Tokyo

MANILA, Philippines—Marck Espejo is returning to Japan for the 2021-2022 V.League season after signing with FC Tokyo.

This will be Espejo’s fourth international stint overall. He last played in the Bahrain League where he helped Bani Jamra to a sixth place finish in the eight-team competition with a 4-9 record.

“Wishing you all the best in Tokyo, Marck! Team Awesome is with you all the way!” posted Cignal, Espejo’s mother club in the Spikers’ Turf.

Espejo first played in the V. League withs in 2018 before moving to Visakha in the Thailand League a year later.

Weisse Adler, interestingly, is Bryan Bagunas’ current team in Japan and the two could eventually play against each other for the first since they played in the UAAP in the late 2010s.

Espejo racked up four MVP trophies and three titles while Bagunas was one-time MVP and two-time champion.
