MANILA, Philippines—Kaya FC secured a spot in the group stage of AFC Champions League after taking down Shanghai Port, 1-0, in the playoff Wednesday at Pathum Thani Stadium in Bangkok.

Defender Audie Menzi found the back of the net in the 17th minute for the lone goal of the match.

Shanghai tried to mount a comeback later on but keeper Louie Casas stood firm between the posts.

Kaya FC joined United City FC in the group stages of the AFC Champions League.

The Iloilo club will next face Thailand’s BG Pathum United on Friday, Vietnam’s Viettel FC on June 29, and South Korea’s Ulsan Hyundai FC on July 2.
