MANILA, Philippines — The unrest of Taal Volcano has forced several PBA teams to switch practice venues.

Blackwater, Magnolia and Phoenix had to move to different training facilities in Batangas due to health and safety concerns as alert Level 3 was raised over the volcano after it spewed a “dark phreatomagmatic plume” last Thursday.

As per the league website, the Hotshots and the Fuel Masters transferred from STI Lipa to Batangas State University and Malarayat Golf and Country Club, respectively, while the Bossings relocated from Esplendido in Laurel, Batangas to Summit Point Country Club in Lipa.

According to the report, Magnolia and Phoenix faced the biggest threat while training at STI Lipa gym which is on the eighth floor.

All 12 PBA teams have been busy preparing for the possible opening of the league’s 46th season later this month.

The PBA is hoping to finally get clearance from the Inter-Agency Task Force to return to play, seven months after crowning a champion in the Philippine Cup bubble in Clark.

“Health and safety of everyone is still our primordial concern,” said league commissioner Willie Marcial.
