MANILA, Philippines—Creamline began its campaign on the right foot after taking down Sta. Lucia, 25-18, 25-21, 25-27, 25-18, in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference Saturday at PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center in Ilocos Norte.
The Cool Smashers banked on the potent offense of Michele Gumabao and Alyssa Valdez who posted 24 and 20 points, respectively.
Creamline assistant coach Sherwin Meneses said their two training camps proved beneficial as those prepared the team despite the long break.
“The team was always ready for this game,” said Meneses in Filipino. “Sta.Lucia put up a fight so the players had to help each other and Jia’s [Morado] passing was also a great contributor to the win.”
“It really was a team effort because the ball was distributed to all of the attackers.”
While Gumabao and Valdez had the bulk of the offense, Jema Galanza and Jeanette Panaga pitching in 13 and points, respectively.
Morado, meanwhile, tallied 25 excellent sets while adding in five points.
MJ Phillips had 20 points for the Lady Realtors.
