MANILA, Philippines—BaliPure notched its second straight win after taking down Cignal, 21-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-22, in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference Sunday at in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.
The Purest Water Defenders moved to a third place tie with Chery Tiggo and Petro Gazz with all three teams holding 2-1 records while the HD Spikers dropped to seventh tying Sta. Lucia at 1-3.
Graze Bombita, the reigning league player of the week, put up 19 points to lead BaliPure while Bernadette Flora added 14.
The Water Defenders had 50-44 kills advantage over the HD Spikers and a better serving game with 12 aces to Cignal’s eight, with Gyra Barroga and Flora combining for nine of BaliPure’s points from the service line.
Barroga and Geneveve Casugod also put up 12 points apiece for the Water Defenders.
Janine Marciano was the lone player from Cignal to finish in double digits with 19 points with Roselyn Doria adding nine.
