Juvic Pagunsan drops to 55th in Olympics men’s golf
Juvic Pagunsan continued throwing away the gains of a promising start, this time tossing his chances so far out he fell out of contention for a medal.
The 43-year-old Japan Tour veteran fired a 76 on Saturday, dropping to 55th place in the Tokyo Olympics men’s individual golf event at Kasumigaseki Country Club.
Article continues after this advertisementWith just one more round on Sunday, all Pagunsan can do now is try to improve his finish in his first stint in the Summer Games.
It was a disappointing performance for Pagunsan, who opened the tournament with a 66 and was within three shots of the lead.
After bogeying the fifth hole and then crashing horribly in the back nine, Pagunsan is now 16 strokes back, with attention now slowly shifting to Yuka Saso and Bianca Pagdanganan as they ready to tee off and in the women’s event next week.
