Go, Gandiongco banner PH Am bets

LLOYD Jefferson Go and Gio Gandiongco, teeners who powered Cebu Country Club to the centrepiece title in this year’s PAL Interclub loom as the players to watch when the 2012 Philippine Amateur Junior (Open) championships tee off on Wednesday.

Andres Saldaña, the lefty who has been ripe for a major championship, and Rupert Zaragosa returning to full-time action are the two others who are listed as major contenders for the crown at the challenging Cebu Country Club.

Go and Gandiongco will be playing on very familiar turf and are expected to exploit this to the hilt against the country’s finest and Malaysia’s top two junior talents and several Korean expatriates.

“This is definitely a classy field,” organizing National Golf Association of the Philippines president Tommy Manotoc said. “It’s going to be a very interesting tournament because of the foreign flavour.”
