MANILA, Philippines—Streaking San Miguel Beer will have another reason to feel good about as the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup resumes Wednesday in Bacolor, Pampanga.
The Beermen, who have won three in a row before play was suspended due to the rising COVID-19 Delta cases in the country last month, will welcome back their star guard Terrence Romeo.
Romeo got hurt in San Miguel’s 93-87 loss to Meralco on July 18.
“His (Romeo) hyperextended knee and ankle sprain seems to be a lot better now. Swelling has subsided to normal and our PTs were able to manage the pain while he was doing his own rehab and exercises,” said team manager Gee Abanilla on the league’s website.
“He has been joining our 5×5’s and moving well for a guy coming off injury,” he added.
According to head coach Leo Austria, the Beermen—even cornerstone June Mar Fajardo who recently lost his mother—are in high spirits heading into the restart.
San Miguel, though, will be without veteran playmaker Alex Cabagnot, who is still recuperating from a back injury in Manila.
The Beermen (3-1) play the Terrafirma Dyip, who are still searching for their first win, on Wednesday, 3 p.m. at Don Honorio Ventura State University Gym.
