MANILA, Philippines—Blackwater has appointed its alternate governor and veteran mentor Ariel Vanguardia as the club’s interim coach, replacing Nash Racela.
The development comes on the heels of the Bossing’s winless campaign this tournament. The club suffered 19 straight losses, counting last year’s defeats, for the worst losing streak by any team in PBA history.
“It’s a debacle like the pandemic,” team owner Dioceldo Sy told the Inquirer Sunday afternoon. “So sorry to all of the Bossing’s fans.”
Sy also said that the franchise is also bringing back its old team manager Johnson Martines from retirement and assured to be more hands-on in the next conference after focusing on the family business for over a year and a half.
Racela, who once coached and led TNT to five playoff runs and a finals appearance, ended his Blackwater stint with a measly record of two wins and 20 losses.
