MANILA, Philippines—Jerome Yenson, one of the country’s promising baseball players, has passed away. He was 24.

Yenson, who played for Adamson in the UAAP, was supposed to turn 25 on September 30.

Adamson University Alumni Sports Executive Group first shared the news of his death.

“Our deepest sympathy and condolences to the bereaved. We are sorry for your loss,” posted the alumni group. “Rest in Paradise MVP Jerome Yenson.”

Yenson led Falcons to the UAAP Season 80 title in a sweep of top seed De La Salle. He was also named as the tournament’s Best Pitcher, Finals MVP, and was included into the All-UAAP team.

His exploits in the UAAP ultimately earned him a spot in the national team that won gold in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games against Thailand.
