PH Malditas book Women’s Asian Cup spot, rally past Hong Kong
MANILA, Philippines—Chandler McDaniel helped the Philippines book a slot in the 2022 Women’s Asian Cup as her late goal lifted the Malditas to a 2-1 win over Hong Kong in the qualifying stages Friday at JAR Stadium in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
McDaniel, who was making her international debut, found the back of the net in the 87th minute leading the Philippines to a perfect 2-0-0 (win-loss-draw) run in Group F in the qualifiers.

The Philippines ended the qualifiers with 6 points earning an outright trip to India for the Asian Cup. The Filipino booters also pulled off a come-from-behind victory over Nepal.
Tahnai Annis gave the Malditas the 1-0 lead in the 17th minute but Hong Kong equalized in the 61st.
The Philippines, upon its qualification for the 2022 Asian Cup, can now compete for one of the five spots for Asia in the 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup.
