Jazz forward Rudy Gay to miss start of NBA season
Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay will miss the start of the NBA regular season after having surgery on his left heel, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.
Gay, 35, signed a three-year, $18.6 million contract with the Jazz in August.
Article continues after this advertisementEntering his 14th NBA season, Gay spent the previous four in San Antonio and averaged 11.4 points and shot 38.1 percent from 3-point range for the Spurs in 2020-21. He’s averaged 16.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game over his career.
Jazz coach Quin Snyder confirmed that Gay hadn’t been cleared for contact, but has been going through some portions of practice.
Gay had surgery on a torn left Achilles tendon in 2017, but there was no indication the injuries were related.
