MANILA, Philippines — Philippine teams Choco Mucho and Rebisco cross paths on Wednesday in the classification phase of the Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship.
The two squads have gone winless so far after suffering a straight-set loss against their respective Thai opponents in the quarterfinals on Monday.
Rebisco was booted out of contention by host and perennial Thailand league champion Nakhon Ratchasima, 25-11, 25-19, 25-18, in the knockout quarters

Choco Mucho suffered the same fate after getting waylaid by a formidable Supreme Chonburi side, 25-13, 25-22, 25-21.
“We really tried to push ourselves to win this match and avoid facing Rebisco, but then we really fell short,” said Choco Mucho’s Mylene Paat on Monday after scoring 14 points in a losing effort.
“Still, I am really excited for the next match especially because it’s against a team that we’re familiar with and has the similar system with us,” she added.
The winner between Choco Mucho, led by Kalei Mau, and Rebisco gets a shot to play for fifth while the loser goes home winless and finishes dead last in the tournament.
