PH men’s national team arrives in Thailand for AVC club tournament

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine men’s national team arrived in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand in the early Wednesday ahead of its participation in the 2021 AVC Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship.

The national team, which is called Team Rebisco for the tournament, is pooled with Iran’s Foolad SIrjan, Qatar’s Al-Arabi, Uzbekistan’s AGMK, and Thailand’s Diamond Food.

Wing spiker Joshua Umandal said the team left the Philippines at 7 pm Wednesday then arrived in Thailand at 10:30 pm.

A four-hour bus ride then took them to Nakhon Ratchasima with the team arriving in the host city at around 2 in the morning.

The Asian Men’s Club Championship will be played from October 8 to 15 with the winner advancing to the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship.

The Philippines fielded two teams in the Asian Women’s Championship with Team Choco Mucho advancing to the fifth place classification match and Team Rebisco settling for seventh.
