MANILA, Philippines — Jack Animam has been dominant so far in her maiden foray in the professional ranks in the First Women’s Basketball League of Serbia.
Animam’s performance—no matter how spectacular—did not surprise her longtime head coach Pat Aquino given her relentless style of play.
“I didn’t expect that she would play like that right away from the start. But that’s Jack. We all know that when Jack plays, she always gives her all,” said Aquino, who even described his prized ward as “amazing” during the PSA Forum on Tuesday.
Aquino knows Animam like the back of his hand, having been her coach since her collegiate days at National University where the two shared multiple UAAP titles.
That’s why Aquino continues to push Animam more knowing she is capable of reaching even greater heights despite already averaging 24.5 points and 13 rebounds in her first two games for her club Radnicki Kragujevac.
“I don’t congratulate her every time she calls, I get mad at her. I tell her to do more and never be satisfied with her game,” the Gilas Pilipinas coach said.
“Learn from it and do more things where you can flourish.”
On Sunday, the 22-year-old Animam posted 29 points and 12 rebounds in a losing effort as Radnicki got blown out by perennial champion ZKK Crvena zvezda.
