Rondina, Pons still undefeated in BVR on Tour

MANILA, Philippines—Creamline 1’s Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons started off their doubles bid with aplomb as they quickly dropped their opponents in the second leg of the Beach Volleyball Republic on tour in Sta.Ana, Cagayan Thursday.

Rondina and Pons battered Sta. Lucia 1’s Jackie Estoquia and DM Demontaño 21-9, 21-11 and Biogenic’s Roma Doromal and Heather Guino-o, 21-12, 21-13, in their Pool A opener.

Creamline 2’s Dij Rodriguez and Dzi Gervacio, the third placers in the first leg, also opened their campaign at 2-0 with straight set wins over Sta. Lucia 2’s Bang Pineda and Chay Troncoso, 21-12, 21-13, and PLDT’s Ella and Iza Viray, 22-20, 21-10 in Pool B.

FEATURED STORIES

The Viray twins are at 1-1 in Pool B after their 21-16, 16-21, 15-9 win over Black Mamba Army’ 1’s Nene Bautista and Jeannie delos Reyes.

Bautista and delos Reyes, meanwhile, are also at 1-1 as they trumped Toyota Tuguegarao’s Nicole Tiamzon and Jho Maraguinot, 21-19, 21-16.

Estoquia and Demontaño are also at 1-1 in Pool A as they beat Delimondo’s MJ Ebro and Bianca Lizarde, 21-18, 21-7, in their second leg opener.

Ebro and Lizarde, likewise, are at 1-1 with a quick sweep of Black Mamba Army 2’s Jim Gutierrez and Audrey Paran, 21-9, 21-18.
