Crowd-favorite Rey Panaligan bowed out early but Audel Sison saved the day for Fern-C Racing by ruling the third leg of the Lateral Drifting Championship recently.

Panaligan, who wowed the crowd with his flashy moves, managed to stay in contention until the round of 16 where he bowed to Ralph Tan.

Sison made it all the way with his consistent performance as he took the overall lead after three legs of the series supported by Nankang Tires, Autocraft and Jeverps Manufacturing Corp.

Sison bagged the runner-up trophy in Round 1 at the Clark International Speedway where he yielded in the finals to Gio Rodriguez.

In Round 2, also at Clark, a more aggressive Sison upstaged defending champion Alex Perez in the semifinals to reach the title duel with Jason Chuachoy, whom he beat for his first major victory of the season.

Sison was a marked man in Round 3 and he figured in a collision in the round of 16 with Gio Rodriguez.

Sison’s Fern-C teammates Pao Agregado and Jay Lao also made it to the quarterfinals, with Agregado bowing to former champion Ryan Agoncillo and Lao losing to Perez.
