V.League: Marck Espejo stars in FC Tokyo’s bounce back win

MANILA, Philippines—Marck Espejo shone the brightest for FC Tokyo as returned to the win column following a 25-21, 25-16, 24-26, 25-17 victory over Hiroshima in the 2021-22 Japan V.League season at Sumida Ward General Gymnasium in Tokyo.

The Filipino international was on point in all facets as he finished with 16 points on the back of 11 spikes, three blocks, and two service aces.

Jonas Kvalen also had 16 points for FC Tokyo while Yanagimachi Ida added 15.

It was a revenge win for FC Tokyo as it lost to the JT Thunders on Friday, 27-25, 25-15, 26-28, 25-20, and the team has now tallied three wins in the past four matches.

Both Hiroshima and FC Tokyo hold a 3-7 record and are sharing the seventh spot in the standings.

Edgar Thomas led the JT Thunders with 25 points. 

Espejo was the lone Filipino to have a Saturday match as Bryan Bagunas and Jaja Santiago won’t play until November 20.
