B.League: Dwight Ramos, Toyama send Thirdy, San-En to 5th straight loss

MANILA, Philippines—Toyama got its second straight win at the expense of struggling San-En, 92-77, in the West Conference of the 2021-22 Japan B.League season Saturday at Toyama City Gymnasium.

The Grouses, who started the season at 0-8, are now tied with the NeoPhoenix at 3-10 in the West.

Dwight Ramos, who is now been a regular starter for the Grouses, finished with 15 points, on 7-of-10 shooting, and three rebounds.

Thirdy Ravena had 13 points and three assists for the NeoPhoenix, who dropped their fifth straight game.

Toyama went on an offensive clinic in the third quarter as it more than doubled San-En’s production, 32-14, taking a 71-54 lead heading into the fourth.

The Grouses started to pull away midway through the third with Joshua Smith’s hook shot capping off an 18-5 run to put his team up 57-45 with 5:37 remaining in the quarter.

Julian Mavunga had a game-high 22 points with seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals to lead Toyama while Smith finished with a 21-point, 11-rebound double-double.

Brice Johnson had his own double-double for the Grouses with 12 points and 11 rebounds while Matsui Keijuro pitched in 13 points.

Robert Carter finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, six assists, one steal, and one block to lead the NeoPhoenix.
